3.30.10 - SCHROCK WINS USAC TROPHY DASH & MAINTAINS POINTS LEAD
CULPEPER, VA (March 30, 2010) –
USAC SoCal and Western Pavement Ford Focus Midget Series points
leader Eli Schrock drove his Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle Midget to
a fourth place finish at I-10 Speedway in Blythe, Calif. on Saturday
night.
Schrock, the 16 year-old rookie to asphalt competition and in his
first year driving for the Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle driver
development team, entered Saturday’s competition fresh off of a
feature win in the season opener the previous weekend.
The night of racing on the quarter-mile asphalt oval began with
Schrock running a lap of 14.192 seconds to qualify fourth fastest.
Schrock won the trophy dash race from the pole before getting ready
for the feature.
11 entries competed in the 40 lap main event with Schrock putting
the Woodwork Manufacturing & Supply Midget third on the gird.
Schrock had a solid performance in the race, finishing fourth and
leading the RSWC drivers in the event.
The former dirt karting champion will take a two point lead over
teammate Bobby Runyan, Jr. into Las Vegas on April 10 when the USAC
SoCal and Western Pavement Focus Midget Series will be in action.
Schrock is scheduled to run a full season in the SoCal division.
“Eli ran a smart race tonight, stated driver coach, Ron Sutton.
“This place eats race cars. Eli got all he could get without
putting the car in the fence.”
